40m Projects - Antennas

Click to enlarge40 Meter Vertical door PE1KQP
Voor de 40 meterband heb ik een 21meter lange antenne gemaakt die op een isolator staat.
Deze antenne wordt gevoed door een 600 ohm lijn van 10 meter lengte, in principe is het een zepp. die vertikaal staat.

I was encouraged recently on 40m to submit the information on my 40m Reversible Moxon rectangle.

Click to enlarge80/40m Vertical by EI7BA
I have always admired the Butternut vertical antennae. They are very well built, using good quality "doorknob" capacitors, and nice airwound low-loss coils. Having had an "HF2" for a while, I decided to see if I could make a homebrew "improved"..?? version.

A 40 Meter Vertical Antenna for Small Spaces by W6NBC
I wanted a high efficiency 40 meter antenna with a low-angle radiation pattern for working DX. A vertical antenna seemed the obvious solution because verticals are low-angle radiators.

Click to enlargeA Shortened 7MHz Dipole by GM4JMU
The shortened dipole for 7 mHz was described by Ken GM4JMU in Sprat 74. It is made from insulated wire. The coils are wound on 40mm ferrite as above, with 40 turns of the same wire on 1.5 ins PVC tube.

This 40 and 80 meter inverted V antenna is made with loading coils. It is a full size antenna on 40 meters and a shortened 80 meter antenna. The antenna is resonate on both bands and does not require an antenna tuner.

Compact 40 Meter HF Loop for Your Recreational Vehicle by W6NBC
Want something better than a mobile HF whip antenna while camping in an RV park?
Try a tilt-up compact HF loop.

EH Antenna for 7MHz by F5SWN
An 50 cm (19.68 in.) 7MHz antenna suitable for indoor or a small outdoor cleared area?

Click to enlargeFerrite Rod TX Antennas by G3XBM
As a quick experiment today (Jan 31st 2013) I tried using my small ferrite rod as a TX antenna. The rod has about 80 turns of 0.5mm diameter wire wound on it for when it is used as a loading coil on 472kHz.

Klik voor vergrotingFull 1/4 wave vertical for 40m by ON7AMI
To construct the antenna, I used 6 tubes of each 2m length. Starting at 10mm diameter for the top and ending with 36 mm at the foot. To assemble the rods I made a cut in the top of each tube.

High-Efficiency 40m Vertical Without Radials by W6NBC
This shortened easy-to-build vertical, with no-radials, is made from surplus military camouflage poles. It has gain and wave angle comparable to a full-sized λ ground plane antenna with radials.

Click to enlargeMagnetic loop by F5SWN
The magnetic loop, thus named by the use of the magnetic component of the electromagnetic field, is a parallel circuit LC.

Click to enlargeShorten Dipole for 10 & 40m. Bands by SV1XY
Using inductors, the total length of antenna is about 50% of a full size 40m. Band Dipole.
The internal part of antenna (2 "A" sections) is a full dipole for 10m Band.

Click to enlargeThe 40 Meter Inverted V Antenna by KGZZ
This 40 meter Inverted V antenna was tested and tuned at a height of 35 feet and proved excellent results. A distance of approximately 80 feet is required to tie off the ends of the antenna. The ends of the antenna are about 11 feet above the ground.

Click to enlargeThe 40/80/160 Meter Coil-loaded Inverted V Dipole Antenna by KGZZ
This coil-loaded inverted V dipole antenna is a resonate antenna that does not require the use of an antenna tuner. It will work all of the 40 meter band plus a portion of the 80 and 160 meter bands.

Click to enlargeVertical Antenna for 7.05 MHz by DF9CY
In 2006 I operated on 40m with a vertical antenna for a while. The lower end was about 2m above ground and the top of the antenna reached a little over 12m. This gave me a full size antenna for the 40m band.

Click to enlargeVertical Dipole For 40M (And Higher) by KGZZ
An advertisement for the i-Pole by Proantennas on the WIMO Homepage made me curious and I decided to give that antenna system a try too. My primary interest was a lightweight portable vertical antenna for 40m, as for 20m - 10m I use my C-Poles.

Click to enlargeWire Dipole for 7.05 MHz by DF9CY
For my new antenna system I wanted to have a monoband dipole for the 40m band, which I prefer most of the lower amateur radio band.
